Look out Brisbane because the most exciting PRIMA show yet is hitting the boards soon!
Rehearsals for PRIMA’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar are well underway with the music rehearsals completed and blocking and choreography rehearsals due to commence on 29th January.
We have assembled a tremendously strong cast with fantastic principals and a dynamic company to support them. Richard Muller returns to us following previous PRIMA roles as ‘Pharaoh’ in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, ‘Daddy Warbucks’ in Annie and ‘Seymour Krelborn’ in Little Shop of Horrors to play the demanding role of Jesus. We welcome a tremendously experienced actor and musician and new member Malcolm Christian to the equally challenging role of ‘Judas’. Our own Mel Evans takes on the role of ‘Mary’ following her knockout performance as ‘Sister Hubert’ in Nunsense, and we are proud to welcome Lawrie Esmond to play the part of ‘Caiphas’ following his recent performance in the same role for Harvest Rain’s production in 2011.
After delighting audiences during the “Afternoon With” series of concerts last year, Meg Kiddle takes on her first role for us as ‘Annas’ and Pierre Nicol returns to us after a long absence to play ‘Pilate’. New member Kuna Smith is relishing his involvement in the role of ‘Simon Zealotes’, our blood thirsty “talking plant” from Little Shop of Horrors Peter Langshaw will no doubt bring the house down as ‘Herod’ and one of our more active PRIMA members Nathan Brant takes on his first principal role as ‘Peter’.
These wonderful talents are ably supported by a company of thirty made up of a mix of new exciting talent and those well-known PRIMA faces who have been involved in so many of our successful productions.
The season will kick off on Friday 20th April and will launch the brand new Holy Spirit Bray Park School Auditorium which will hopefully become our performing home for many years to come.
Proceeds will again be directed to The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation to aid in important medical research.
Thank you to everyone involved so far, Jesus Christ Superstar will be simply spectacular!
